Cynthia was born and raised in Memphis ,Tn. One of Dr. Carey and Eva Gene Bringles five children. Her twin sister Edwina is a fiber artist and shares her gallery at Penland. 

  After receiving a B.F.A. from The Memphis College of Art and an M.F.A. from Alfred University, she set up a studio in Eads Tn. in 1965 and has been a full time studio potter since. Her one of a kind production includes coffee mugs, bowls ,dinnerware,goblets, lamps,bathroom sinks and large vessels .      

Feature articles have been in American Craft, Ceramics Monthly, Clay Times and Studio Potter.         

             

Cynthia Bringle has lived and worked in Penland, North Carolina for over 30 years. Penland is located in the mountains. This town is famous because it’s the home of the Penland School of Crafts. Cynthia’s studio is just down the road from the school. In the front of her studio is a shop where people can buy the vases, bowls, mugs and other pottery she makes every day. In the back of the studio is a wooden deck with a dazzling view of the mountains.

When she was a girl, Cynthia lived in Memphis, Tennessee. She took art classes on Saturdays with her twin sister, Edwina. Now they both are professional artists. Cynthia is a potter and Edwina is a weaver.

Cynthia's early love of painting has influenced her work. She decorates many of her pieces by painting abstract designs on them. Her art is very colorful. It’s interesting to look at and to hold.
